Welcome to the Integrate Life blog! Glad you dropped by. If you know me, then you also know I had another blog dealing with leadership development lessons drawn from life issues. It was called “leadership on the go.” Well, this is kind of a restart and a fresh approach. If you would like to see some of my original, first blogging attempts you can visit my church’s website at Please Login or Register to see the link. and click on the coaching link. And if you don’t know me…..then forget I said anything about it. Or not.
I suppose you are probably asking yourself (or me) what “Integrate Life” is all about. Glad you asked! According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the definition of “integrate” is to form, coordinate, or blend into a functioning or unified whole. Over the years, it has become painfully obvious to me that I know a whole lot more than I actually put into practice. I know how to eat more healthy foods, but I often don’t. I know I should exercise more, but I don’t. The list goes on. Then when I consider my spiritual life as a Christian, I know that I should pray, but I often find I have gone through an entire day and not taken the time. The same thing is true with reading my Bible for devotional purposes (as opposed to writing a sermon). I have learned a lot – but I often struggle with applying it to my life and my ministry as a pastor and coach. How’s that for catalyzing authenticity! It seems when we get busy trying to serve the Lord, our own personal stuff kind of gets in the way and slows us down, doesn’t it?
So we come back to “integrate life.” The purpose of this blog is to share experiences and insights with each other as we move from just “learning” things to actually “living” them. It may be some great idea for how to improve the way we do ministry. It may be my personal journey towards better health. It may even be social, political, or ecclesial commentary! Sometimes, it may just be something fun. Regardless, hopefully something shared here (blog or comment!) will encourage/challenge/help someone along the way. I am especially interested in communicating with people who are emerging as leaders in their local church: pastor, staff, volunteer – doesn’t matter. So drop me a comment and tell me about yourself! I’m looking forward to doing life with you.
